“I went to the woods because I wished to live deliberately,
to front only the essential facts of life,
and see if I could not learn what it had to teach,
and not, when I came to die, discover that I had not lived.“
~Henry David Thoreau
*
miss sadie {le pooch} and i went to the forest to hunt for morels
and to witness the delights of an early morning spring awakening…
*
lovely little blooms dotted the woodland…
*
i dub thee “faerie parasols”
*
curious conk fungi formations…
*
spring moss creeps along a patch of felled trees
{moss collected for a “moss graffiti” project…but no morels found beneath}
*
“excuse me, mr. box turtle, but have you seen the morels?”
*
ooo…a groovy natural green! {does this come in a pantone paint chip?}
*
the perfect spot to find forest magic {or a morel?}
*
oh!….rats…not a morel…
*
“ah, sir beetle, can you point me toward the mysterious morel?”
*
alas, no morels to be found today. the sudden onset of a summer-like spring
may prove to make the morel hunt more difficult. no matter ~ it’s all about the journey…
*
oh, and on my journey out of the forest ~ i finally captured a somewhat decent photo
of just a couple of the turkey vultures that nest nearby {notice the ombre sky!}
*
thank you for coming along on my forest journey. stay tuned for potential morel news ~ i hope!
{and the results of the “moss graffiti” project}
