sitting at the corner of my dayjob office!
if you are in chicago – you can track their whereabouts
on facebook @ flirtycupcakes.

a tad pricey for the size ~ but the flavor was superb!
{i partook of the curious george cupcake}
one of my favorite places to peruse in chicago
is a delightful little shop called

i can hardly describe the unique coolness
of the jewelry pieces found at
chicago artist ~ carrie boucher
crafts & metalsmiths amazing pieces
out of found & collected treasures like…
vintage glass, candy foil, antique game pieces, french & US stock certificates,
money, buttons & photo negatives…
she also tells charming little tales about some her works
the results are spectacular…

“One of the advantages of being disorderly
is that one is constantly making exciting discoveries.” ~ A.A. Milne

“In my studies, I learned that the word “jewel” has its origins in the Latin word *jocale*, meaning plaything, and in all of my work I strive to bring jewelry back to this idea. I truly believe that each piece I produce must be a plaything on one level or another.”

artistic perfection in the form of mexican hot chocolate!
namely ~ the aztec chocolate at rick bayless’ XOCO in Chicago
yes, the warm & crusty tortas {mexican submarine sandwiches} were splendid…
but the cup of frothy aztec mexican hot chocolate {that is freshly roasted & ground that day}
brewed with water, chiles & allspice was simply intoxicating…
love these!
the clever chicago artist of mad canvases
creates wonderful photo collage canvases of groovy spots around the city
she manipulates the photos in photoshop & then the image is…
“heatpressed using sublimation inks onto a 15″ x 15″ white canvas square. The canvas was adhered to a 13″ x 13″ piece of gator board which can be hung on the walls with double sided tacks or velcro”
okay! that sounds pretty complicated
lucky for us ~ we don’t have to understand it ~ we can just enjoy the results!
*
{the aragon ballroom}
*
{the riviera}
these two canvases above are my faves ~ since i live near both these spots…
oh i have seem many a concert in them
& my granny says she used to swing~dance in the Aragon!

i actually won tickets from one of my favorite crafty chicago people
the lovely cindy of paper parasol press {thanks again cindy!}——————–>

looky what opened up in chicago today!
conveniently located in the olgilvie train station!
{entrance inside station or at 131 north clinton}
it’s a 15,000-square-foot, european-inspired market that includes 25 individual vendors
offering an array of local & certified organic produce,
meats, fresh fish & seafood, breads, pastries, small batch cheese & wine,
chocolates and sweets, artisan-made goods & flowers…
AND unlike seasonal outdoor farmer’s markets,
MetraMarket’s Chicago French Market & its vendors
will stay open year-round, six-days-a-week!
here’s what i saw this very morning…
{pommes de terre, redwhite&blue trees, holiday foliage, rooty veggies, chocolate!, croissants!, colorful shopping bags, cheese boxes, a scarf zebra, pastoral, poissons, pillows, local etsy crafts, birch tree vases, creamy rainbow gelato, grapes & berries}
