“the monarch of the desert”

who doesn’t love a cactus?

the saguaro is the largest cactus in the united states

& is found in southern arizona and western sonora, mexico…

they grow very slowly but can get up to 40-60 feet tall

& live to be as much as 150-200 years old

after the saguaro dies its woody ribs can be used

for many useful & crafty things!

{factoid:  american indians used them as water containers long before the canteen was available}

here are some lovely & functional saguaro art pieces

by artist don shedd

each piece is handmade & one~of~a~kind

{& best of all UPcycled!}
