purple basil lemonade

my purple basil plant is blooming like crazy

{isn’t it gorgeous?}

i’ve been clipping off the big leaves

& freezing for future recipes ~ but today…

i thought i’d made some purple basil lemonade!

it’s super easy & oh so delicious.

put 4 cups of water & 1/2 cup lemon juice

in a bowl & mix…

get about a 1/2 cup of loosely packed leaves

and muddle with about 5-6 tablespoons of sugar or stevia

until it looks like a purple paste ~ like this…

put purple sugar into bowl with water & lemon juice

mix until sugar is dissolved.

strain mixture through a sieve over a bowl; discard leaf pieces.

pour into a tall glass of ice & garnish with basil sprig!

{it turns a lovely pink color}

{a few splashes of vodka would be lovely too!}

enjoy!
